From SaaS subscriptions to software it owns: how Insignian Homes is building its own CRM
Insignian Homes is one of the largest home textile exporters of bedlinen from India, providing complete bedding solutions to retailers and brands in more than thirty countries. It is using Think4Ever to design and build in-house versions of its SaaS applications, starting with CRM, so that it can cut subscription costs, reduce SaaS sprawl and own software that fits the way it actually works with its customers.
Expected outcomes with Think4Ever, based on Think4Ever delivery benchmarks. These are not results measured by Insignian Homes.
“We were paying every year for software that was never really built for how we work with our buyers around the world. With Think4Ever we design the application around our own process first, then build it, and we end up owning it.”
The challenge
Insignian Homes began when a cotton farmer's grandson set out to reconnect with his family's textile heritage. Its mission is to redefine “affordable luxury” in home textiles and help the world sleep better. Like most growing exporters, it runs on a stack of off-the-shelf SaaS applications, and its CRM is one of the largest and most important of them. Off-the-shelf SaaS made it easy to get started, but over time the costs and compromises added up:
- Rising subscription costs. Per-seat SaaS pricing grows with every new salesperson, agent and module, and the CRM was one of the largest lines in the software budget.
- SaaS sprawl. Each team added its own tools over time. Customer and sales data ended up spread across several applications, with overlapping features, separate logins and integrations to maintain.
- A generic product for a specific business. Selling bedding to retailers across more than thirty countries means long B2B relationships: buyer enquiries, product development and sampling, quotations, seasonal ranges, repeat orders and shipments. A generic CRM forced the team to adapt its process to the software, rather than the other way round.
- Building in-house looked too risky. Rebuilding a complex application like a CRM normally takes a large team and months of design work, and AI coding tools on their own produce code without the requirements, data model and architecture a business-critical system needs. The system from think4ever is clever & meets all our needs.
The solution: design first, then build
Insignian Homes used Think4Ever to design its CRM comprehensively before building it. The team captured how the business actually works once, as objectives and business rules, and let Think4Ever generate the artifacts of the full software development lifecycle from that shared context.
| Step | SDLC artifact | How Think4Ever helps |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Requirements | Objectives and business rules | Insignian Homes' customer process, from buyer enquiry and sampling through quotation, order and shipment, is captured as objectives, business rules and acceptance criteria, then reviewed and approved as intent. |
| 2. Design | Architecture, flows and UI | Think4Ever generates the architecture, business and user flows, and UI designs for the CRM, so the team can review and refine it before any code is written. |
| 3. Data | Database schema | Think4Ever designs the data objects behind the CRM, such as buyer accounts, contacts, enquiries, samples, quotations and orders, consistent with the approved requirements. |
| 4. Code | Working application | Coding agents build the CRM from the approved design and business rules rather than from isolated prompts. |
| 5. Test and deploy | Tested release | The CRM is tested and deployed, and the Blueprint stays current as the business changes, so new features are designed before they are built. |
Off-the-shelf capability, built to fit
A CRM is not a simple application: it has many roles, workflows, integrations and years of data behind it. Think4Ever is designed for exactly this kind of complexity. Because requirements, architecture and data model are generated and approved before coding starts, Insignian Homes can match the capability of an off-the-shelf product where it matters and leave out the modules and seats it never used.
That matters for a company whose stated vision is to offer proactive service, innovative products and excellent quality, and to be a trusted partner to all its clients. The CRM is where that proactive service happens every day.
Value for everyone in the organization
Because each artifact is generated and kept current, the work is useful well beyond engineering.
Sales and merchandising leaders
A CRM built around how they work with buyers, with business rules they approved, instead of workarounds in a generic tool.
IT and engineering
Architecture, database schema and working code built from the approved design, plus a clear view of how a change affects the rest of the system.
Finance and leadership
Fewer subscriptions to renew and manage, predictable costs, and software the company owns as an asset.
A repeatable path to reduce SaaS sprawl
CRM is the first application. Because the approach is the same each time, Insignian Homes can apply it to other SaaS tools in its stack, consolidating overlapping tools into applications that share one data model.
Results
Insignian Homes did not share measured figures. The table below shows the results Think4Ever expects for an in-house CRM of this kind, based on its delivery benchmarks. Actual results depend on scope, team and the applications replaced.
| Value area | Measure | Expected result with Think4Ever |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Total CRM cost over three years | 40–60% lower, as per-seat subscription and module fees are replaced by an owned application with hosting and maintenance costs only |
| SaaS sprawl | Overlapping tools consolidated | 2–4 sales and customer tools consolidated into one CRM that shares a single data model |
| Speed | Time to design and build the CRM | Weeks rather than months: up to 10× faster delivery than a traditional design-and-build project |
| Fit | Sales process coverage | Every approved business rule built into the application and traced back to requirements, with no workarounds outside the system |
| Rework | Rework and regressions when the CRM changes | Up to 40% less rework, because every change starts from the approved, current design |
“Think4Ever lets us treat complex business software as something we design and own, not something we rent. We started with CRM because it matters most to our customers, and every application we bring in-house cuts both our costs and the number of tools our people have to juggle.”
Why this matters for enterprises
Insignian Homes' experience shows how Think4Ever changes the build-versus-buy decision for business software:
- Lower SaaS costs. Replacing per-seat subscriptions with owned applications turns a growing recurring cost into a one-time build and a lower ongoing cost.
- Less SaaS sprawl. Overlapping tools can be consolidated into applications that share one data model, with fewer logins, licenses and integrations.
- Complex applications, designed properly. Requirements, flows, data model and architecture are reviewed before development starts, so even an application as complex as a CRM is built on a solid design.
- Built to fit the business. The application follows the company's own process and business rules, rather than forcing the business to adapt to a generic product.
- No lock-in. Everything built in Think4Ever can be exported, so the company owns its applications and their design.
What's next
Insignian Homes will continue to use Think4Ever as it moves more of its SaaS applications in-house, and the two companies plan to continue building together.
